The stories and folks tales referred to as One Thousand and One Nights or the Arabian Nights is a collection of popular Middle Eastern and South Asian folk tales gathered over several centuries, first published during the Islamic Golden Age. Their authorship is attributed to "Anonymous" because these stories are by numerous authors from a range of ethnic, geographic and literary traditions including Arabic, Persian, Egyptian, Mesopotamian, Jewish, and Indian.
Sir Richard Francis Burton (1821-1890)
- One of the most celebrated of all his books is his translation of The Book of the Thousand Nights and a Night (commonly called The Arabian Nights. (আলিফ লায়লা). It is an Arab folk story of Banjamin.
- Burton was a captain in the army of the East India Company
- Perhaps Burton's best-known book is his translation of The Kama Sutra.
